Forest Avenue Bridge Replacement
Ciorba’s Structural Engineers recently had the opportunity to join our Construction Team in the field during the erection of the curved girders on the Forest Avenue Bridge Replacement Project in Highland Park. They witnessed the process of lifting and placing the curved steel girders as designed in the contract drawings. Due to the complex geometry of the bridge and the site itself, a 300-ton crane with a 208-foot boom was used to lift the beams across the length of the bridge. This site visit gave our young engineers a chance to visualize the site constraints and constructability issues associated with this bridge, which will help them bridge the gap between construction and design in their future work. The Ciorba team is excited to continue our work with Highland Park and for the opportunity to see our designs come to life!
