This past weekend Ciorba Group competed in the ACEC IL 3x3 Basketball Tournament, and we’re proud to have gone 2 wins and 2 losses. But more than just having fun on the court, we’re glad to have supported Project SYNCERE (Supporting Youth Needs with Core Engineering Research Experiments) through tournament proceeds to prepare minds and create pathways for underrepresented and disadvantaged students to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. We are so proud of AJ Crosley, Alex Omelanczuk, and Johnathan Morris for representing our team. It was a tough competition, but we can’t wait for next year!

Don’t miss Ciorba Group's Brett Sauter, PE, SE and Indiana Department of Transportation LaPorte District’s Andrew Borden’s presentation entitled “Beauty and the Bridge” at 2023 Purdue Road School Transportation Conference and Expo 4:00 PM in room STEW 206 on March 14th. Their presentation will discuss the US 20/US 31 interchange project just south of South Bend. Each day over 65,000 vehicles utilize the interchange and in recent years, the bridge has been a victim of truck hits due to low vertical clearance over US 31. Ciorba was tasked with reconstructing the bridge while improving the vertical clearance, a challenging task due to the heavy traffic and tight interchange configuration. The design required an analysis of possible options to improve the clearance by over 1’ including lowering US 31, raising US 20 or a combination. To make matters even more challenging, construction efforts had to be coordinated with the City of South Bend and the Notre Dame football schedule, which attracts nearly 100,000 people each home game. Don't miss this informative presentation on innovative design and careful planning in the face of complex transportation challenges. #PurdueRoadSchool #BridgeReplacement
