I-69 Section 5 Technical Assessment of Design Build Documents

Ciorba Group provided a technical assessment of the I-69 Section 5 project, a 21-mile long Design-Build expressway improvement project in Bloomington, Indiana. Ciorba Group was initially hired by the Surety Company who issued the project bond to assess possible design deficiencies at the preliminary stage that could have cause problems to the contractor in the preparation of the Design-Build fee proposal. We used our experience with similar expressway add lane projects to compare preliminary cost estimates with industry standard costs on an aggregate basis. Ciorba also partially reviewed the final plans prepared by AZTEC-TYPSA under the Engineering Service Agreement (ESA) with Isolux Corsan for deficiencies that could potentially yield higher costs during construction.
