Ciorba Group provided final design and construction engineering services for the $2.8M Forest Avenue Bridge Replacement. The existing horizontally curved alignment, tight constraints, steep ravine, and surprise water main relocation presented challenges requiring unique design solutions. The project team rose to the challenge delivering an improvement that benefited both the City and the community.
The existing bridge was composed of straight beam spans that are chorded to fit a horizontal curved alignment. The replacement bridge is a three span curved steel plate girder on a 600’ radius horizontal curve. The bridge is 181’ long with hammerhead pier heights up to 33’ tall to cross the steep ravine. In addition to the bridge replacement, an 18” transmission water main was replaced due to a conflict with the proposed bridge.
