I-80 Expressway Lane Additions

Ciorba Group provided final design engineering services for improvements along I-80 from US 30 to US 45 in Will County. The purpose of this project is to improve safety and capacity along I-80 by adding a third lane in each direction.  The project included widening of mainline dual structures carrying I-80 over the Norfolk Southern Railroad, and replacing the existing grass median and ditch with new shoulders, a Jersey barrier and a closed drainage system. Construction was staged to maintain two lanes of traffic on I-80 at all times. This six-mile-long add lane project also had various structural components including new noise walls, modifications to existing culverts and sign structures.
