Ciorba Group was selected by the City of North Chicago to design, prepare the final plans, and provide construction observation services for a new wetland bottom regional detention basin. The basin was designed to alleviate flooding in a known flood hazard area, improve the quality of stormwater draining to Pettibone Creek, and create a flood storage area for a brownfield site that had no detention requirements. Project components include drainage analysis for the design of the basin, final design plans and specifications, documentation for permit submittals, an engineer’s cost estimate, and bid documents. Ciorba also provided construction engineering services. This project received the Best Management Practice (BMP) of the Year Award from the Lake County Stormwater Management Commission.
