Veterans Memorial Tollway (I-355) Segmental Bridges

Ciorba Group developed bridge inspections, load ratings, bridge condition reports, and final design plans for the rehabilitation of four post tensioned concrete segmental box girders. The bridges, located at the interchange of I-355 and I-88, range in length from 553’ to 2,017’. The inspections included accessing the interior of the box girders to inspect the post-tensioning strands as well as inspecting the exterior of the bridges at arm’s length. The substructure and superstructure for each of the bridges were load rated using a time dependent analysis and included a rating for the current lane configurations and the potential for future lanes will include the addition of a lighting system on the interior of the box girders to aid in future inspection efforts.
